Reprints Desk announced today that it has reached an agreement with Elsevier to deliver
PDFs of individual journal articles from over 2,000 scientific journals.

South Africa's Naspers Ltd is set to buy British-based Internet auction company QXL
Ricardo Plc for more than £750 million pounds ($1.5 billion), a British newspaper
reported.
QXL, which is changing its name to Tradus, recently reported a 165 percent jump in
first-half pretax profit to 3.68 million pounds. The company runs auction sites chiefly in
Poland and Switzerland, but recently expanded into Russia, Bulgaria and Romania.

Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR)
The Department of Trade and Industry,has been closed. BERR brings
together functions from the former DTI, including responsibilities for enterprise,
business relations, regional development, fair markets and energy policy, with the Better
Regulation Executive (BRE), previously part of the Cabinet Office.

fails to sell arms fairs

Reed Elsevier has failed to sell off its controversial arms fairs by the end of this
year as planned.
The tiny but highly profitable division was put up for sale in June after key customers
and authors took offence at Reeds involvement in shows such as DSEi (Defence Systems
& Equipment International), Londons main arms fair, where some exhibitors were
ejected this year for trying to promote leg irons.
