BiomedNet.
Google numbers

You can now search Google for numbers, including the parcel tracking numbers
for UPS and FedEx, for patents, aircraft registration numbers, and FCC equipment IDs.
Enter patent 5123123 into the search box, in Google's example, and you are offered a link
that says: Look up patent 5123123 in the US patent database. Click it and you can read the
patent for a "bathtub overflow control device". You can also use Google to look
up traffic conditions at US airports.

and Technology Committee is to conduct an inquiry into scientific publications.
United Kingdom Parliament, 10 December
The Science and Technology Committee of the United Kingdom Parliament will
be looking at access to journals within the scientific community, with particular
reference to price and availability. It will be asking what measures are being taken in
government, the publishing industry and academic institutions to ensure that researchers,
teachers and students have access to the publications they need in order to carry out
their work effectively. The inquiry will also examine the impact that the current trend
towards e-publishing may have on the integrity of journals and the scientific process.
Leading
Publishers Sue Document Deliverers For Copyright Infringement

Five leading scientific, technical and medical publishers, the
American Chemical Society, Elsevier, Inc., Marcel Dekker, Inc., SAGE Publications, Inc.
and Wiley Periodicals, Inc. (a subsidiary of John Wiley & Sons, Inc.), have announced
they have filed copyright infringement suits against document deliverers Medical Review
Services, headquartered in Katy, Texas, and LMS Information Services, headquartered in San
Francisco, California.

failure' links to Bush

George W Bush has been Google bombed. Web users
entering the words "miserable failure" into the popular search engine are
directed to the biography of the president on the White House website. The trick is
possible because Google searches more than just the contents of web pages - it also counts
how often a site is linked to, and with what words.

Report Over 1 Million Units Already Sold in 2003

Retail eBook sales continued their strong growth into the third quarter of 2003
according to data released by the Open eBook Forum (OeBF), the eBook industry trade and
standards organisation (www.openebook.org).
Cumulative units sold for the first three quarters of 2003 (Jan Sept) have
surpassed the one million mark for the first time in a single year and are up 64% over Q3

associated with GigaGroup, S.A.

Forrester Research,
Inc. (Nasdaq: FORR) has acquired certain assets associated with GigaGroup, S.A. for $3.9
million in total consideration. Headquartered in Paris, GigaGroup's assets include 125
client companies and approximately $4.0 million of agreement value.
