Scotsman.com achieves 1 million Unique Users

Scotsman.com, the top Scottish online news site, announced record levels of traffic, confirmed by ABC ELECTRONIC, the UK's leading independent auditor of electronic media.

During August 2003, Scotsman.com recorded 1,024,619 Unique Users and 8,696,070 Page Impressions, a significant increase on its figures for January. Unique Users for the January period were 748,150 and Page Impressions were 7,442,574.

Microsoft to close UK chat rooms

Microsoft is to close all of its UK chat rooms next month due to concerns over the action of paedophiles. The decision, which comes into force on October 14, will affect about 1.2 million people in Britain who use Microsoft chat rooms on a regular basis.

75% of UK can now get broadband

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has revealed that broadband services are now available to over 75% of the population.The latest figures announced by communications minister Stephen Timms reveal that broadband access in the UK is growing by 30,000 subscribers a week. By the end of July over 2.3m people in the UK had signed up to broadband services.

Adobe Systems reports strong third quarter results

Barnes&Noble.com has discontinued sales of e-books. Customers using Microsoft's eBook reader have until Dec. 9 to access downloads purchased from the store, while Adobe Reader customers have 90 days to retrieve any outstanding files, according to a notice posted on their website. Meanwhile thousands of e-book titles were listed as unavailable.
